This report highlights the urgent need to reimagine ageing in India, where the population aged 60+ is projected to reach 300 million by 2047. Older adults desire to age in place within their communities, valuing social connections, purposeful engagement, and financial security. Despite their significant contributions—including 14 billion hours annually in caregiving—over 40% live in poverty, face social isolation, and struggle with inadequate public support. The report stresses shifting narratives from ageing as decline to ageing as an opportunity for continued contribution and well-being. It underscores the critical role of "samaaj innovators" (civil society organizations), government, and private sector collaboration, supported by philanthropy, to develop inclusive, community-based models that empower seniors. Key insights emphasize addressing economic security, health, freedom to participate, and social connectedness to improve quality of life for today's and tomorrow’s older adults.
